Devon’s Legacy Foundation honors the life and dreams of Devon Nicholas by providing scholarships to young adults pursuing careers in firefighting. We are committed to removing financial barriers so that passionate, service-driven individuals can receive the training they need to serve their communities as first responders.
Guided by the values Devon embodied — courage, commitment, and selflessness — we empower the next generation of firefighters to turn their passion into purpose, and their dreams into impact.
Devon’s Legacy Foundation was founded in February 2025 after Sam experienced the unimaginable loss of her only child, Devon. Just 19 years old, Devon had his whole life ahead of him when a tragic car accident cut his journey short.
From a young age, Devon was driven and full of ambition. He was a skilled golfer with an incredible work ethic, but as he grew, his heart turned toward public service. He spent several years in the Apopka Fire Explorers, fully committed to his dream of becoming a firefighter. Devon embodied courage, discipline, and selflessness — and he was determined to make a difference.
Devon’s Legacy Foundation was created to carry that dream forward. Today, the foundation is dedicated solely to providing scholarships to young adults pursuing careers in firefighting, removing financial barriers for those ready to serve their communities with the same passion Devon showed in everything he did.
Though his time here was far too short, Devon’s legacy continues to inspire. Through every scholarship awarded, we honor his spirit — and help ignite the future of those who share his dream to serve.
Every donation to Devon’s Legacy Foundation creates life-changing opportunities for young adults pursuing careers in firefighting. Your support directly funds scholarships that remove financial barriers and help the next generation of first responders rise.
